The U.S. Department of Labor predicts a shortage of qualified health information management and technology workers in the years to come, making occupations in this field very high demand. Moraine Park’s Medical Coding Specialist program prepares graduates for employment as entry-level coding specialists.
Graduates will have the skills to review medical documents — such as payment of health care claims, statistics and medical research — and translate them into universally recognized numeric codes. Coding specialists are hired by hospitals, long-term and home-care health facilities, consulting firms, coding and billing service providers, insurance companies, government agencies and computer software companies.
This diploma can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Courses can transfer directly into the Health Information Technology associate of applied science degree, an associate online degree program, for those interested in continuing their education.
